Colleagues from PH Jones recently spent a rewarding social value day supporting Jimmy Mac’s Activity Centre in Hatfield, a charity that provides friendship, activities and support for older and disabled people in the local community. The centre offers a welcoming environment where service users can take part in social events, exercise classes, outings and activities that help tackle loneliness and improve wellbeing.

The team dedicated the day to transforming the centre’s outdoor garden, clearing overgrown areas and creating a safer, more accessible space that can now be enjoyed by service users. As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, we will also be funding a new garden shed and plants to further enhance the space. These improvements will help ensure the garden remains a valuable community asset for years to come.

The day was about more than just gardening. Colleagues had the opportunity to spend time with service users, hear their stories and learn more about the important role that Jimmy Mac’s plays within the community. These conversations helped create meaningful connections and made the day especially memorable for everyone involved.

The project has delivered lasting benefits for the charity by creating a more attractive and usable outdoor space that supports wellbeing, social interaction and enjoyment. At the same time, it gave our team the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the local community while strengthening relationships with the people who will benefit most from the improvements.

We are proud to have supported Jimmy Mac’s Activity Centre and look forward to seeing service users enjoy the revitalised garden in the months ahead.
