Our area business customer delivery manager Karim Awadia and his team have been supporting a number of foodbanks in Lanarkshire since the beginning of the covid pandemic. When the new project Community Cares Airdrie was mentioned to Karim back in April his and the wider team jumped at the opportunity to help.

The plan was to deliver Christmas hampers to residents in need containing food, toiletries, treats, clothing and toys. Originally, we expected that around 30 households in the area would benefit from these deliveries, but demand grew significantly in the run up to Christmas and saw the team delivering to 80 households in the area. Due to the increase in demand the team took it upon themselves to raise more than £300 to add to the already generous donations provided by the Airdrie team. Any surplus food at the end of the day of deliveries was given to the local homeless unit.

“I am very proud of our PH Jones and British Gas colleagues for all they have done to support this fantastic project giving back to the local community. I would like to say special thanks to Dave Brown, Steven Stewart Kris Brown, Sandie Craw, Megan Crawford, Jennifer Gow, Ali Ward, Louisa Traynor, Gerry Collins, Nicky Smith, Karim Awadia and the team’s children for kindly giving up their time to support such a great cause. Also thank you to Community Cares Airdrie for organising such a great project and inviting us to be involved. Paul Makin Director of PH Jones. “
