Our team has been working closely with clients as part of an ongoing social value programme to deliver energy efficiency advice and cost of living support. Our Responsible Business Manager has developed a toolkit for regional teams, which include helpful leaflets and guidance on how the British Gas Energy Trust can help. We also secured plenty of freebies such as lightbulbs (donated by CEF) and temperature gauges. In the last month, we’ve helped over 200 residents across social housing contracts.
Wigan Council and Hinckley and Bosworth Council recently hosted cost-of-living events, attended by organisations such as DNOs, food banks, health professionals and credit unions. Their aim was to build awareness of support available at this challenging time, whilst using the skillsets of volunteers to help with heating advice. Events were attended by Robbo Robinson (Contract Manager) and Abdul Razzak (Tenant Liaison Officer), who put our toolkit to good use.
Elaine Gernon – Service Development officer (Hinckley and Bosworth Council) commented: “Please pass on our thanks to Abdul, it was excellent to have him there and the feedback has shown the tenants really appreciated his advice. The event was much busier than we had expected it to be, so he was non-stop all day!”
